[Explanation]
Dr. Morse was the director of the Peabody Academy of Science (now the Peabody Essex Museum) in Salem, and as a result, Salem and Ota became sister cities in 1991. Even now, more than 30 years later, the two cities continue to have exchanges through mutual visits and other activities.
