This year, 2025 (Reiwa 7), marks the 100th anniversary of Mizushima Ayame, a pioneering female screenwriter at Shochiku Kinema Kamata Studio, joining the studio.
Mizushima Ayame was born on July 17, 1903 (Meiji 36) in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, and moved to Tokyo in 1921.
He joined the Kamata Studio in 15 and lived in Shimomaruko, Kugahara and Ota Ward for 20 years.
To conclude this milestone year, we asked Shigemitsu Oka, former producer of the Kamata Film Festival (sponsored by the Ota Tourism Association), to compile a "first part" of his valuable stories tracing the footsteps of the women who shone at Shochiku Kinema Kamata Studios.
