"Ryuko, Beyond Classics and Reality."
--Inherit, observe, and create. The trajectory of that gaze.
This exhibition focuses on the subjects depicted by Japanese painter Kawabata Ryushi, showcasing his work from two perspectives: "classical motifs" and "real-life models." Works on display highlight Ryushi's unique creativity and powers of observation, including "Yasarai," a reinterpretation of the Peacock Myoo statue from the Heian period as a figure quietly resting, and "Tiger Room," in which he quotes Nanzenji Temple's "Group of Tigers" and confronts himself with a tiger.
